Creativity Check

Following lines from Businessworld’s editor makes me think about the declining state of Indian Creativity:-

“It would be safe to wager that Shah Rukh Khan and Farah Khan have seen The Phantom of the Opera. Their latest blockbuster, Om Shanti Om, has been so obviously lifted from the film version of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s saccharine musical, right from the crashing chandelier to the beat of the music, that it’s embarrassing. It’s common for Bollywood to imitate Hollywood, but that India’s leading star and choreographer also lack originality underlines the sorry state of Indian creativity.”

Have you realized -

  • Our films - copied from the West
  • Our music - copied from the West
  • Our clothing - copied from the West
  • Our Work Culture - copied from the West
  • Our TV Soaps - copied from the West
  • Our ‘Reality Shows’ - copied from the West
  • Our Language - copied from the West
  • Our celebrations - copied from the West
  • Our food - copied from the West
  • Our medicines - copied from the West
  • Our education - copied from the West
  • Our culture - being copied from the West

Where are all the creative Indians?

…probably serving the rulers from the West.
