Lead India (?) – a Times Of India Initiative

Is it just me and my anti-idiot brainLead India Logo or I represent the thought of the masses? My x-ray vision has spotted stupidity in yet-another-different TV show named – Lead India.

The show intends to choose a leader from a group of people who have already been doing exceptional work in their own chosen field. To start with, I respect each of the contestants & the work they are doing. Hats off to you! It takes courage, strong will power & faith to do what you are doing.

I however doubt the real motive behind this initiative by TOI. Times of India is no doubt a respected newspaper in India. I watched first few episodes of this show with great interest assuming that Star One guys came up with a very good reality show concept. I expected quality. I expected sense & I wanted to see the real problems of India being discussed in the show. But, I’m disappointed.

In today’s episode, Mr. Anupam Kher (the anchor) asked contestant following questions –

Q. Who do you think is a better actor: Shah Rukh Khan or Amitabh Bachchan?

Q. Who played Sanjay Dutt’s wife in Mission Kashmir?

Q. Who was awarded the man-of-the-match title in 1983 world-cup semi-finals?

and many more such questions.

Now, how many of you really expect your leader to know answers to these questions? Would you say, “Dood! You don’t know Saif Ali Khan’s Dog’s name???…how can you lead India??”

W.T.H ! (i.e. What The Heck!)

Give us a break, guys! India goes beyond Bollywood, Cricket & The Taj Mahal. Don’t ask the contestants questions on stupid Bollywood films and Cricket. We’ve enough of it on rest of the TV channels.

I wonder if you will ask the contestants to sing song, to see if they have a voice good enough to keep the audience glued to seat for hours. I wonder if you will ask the contestants to participate in frog race to see if they are physically fit. And last but not the least, ask them to plead for the sms-votes to the common man of India.

Please stop the non-sense & bring in some good stuff.

Its related to Mr D nanvati

Please reomve Mr javed Akhthar as a jury because he is neutral he failed in all parts. He is just favouring muslims, if you won;t speak about muslim, he will not give you marks. which is not fair, At given time, what a contestant will say is up to him only & not to mr Javed Akthar. Pls be neutral
Thanks , pls do the needful

Hi i was so excited for this show n we know that its a good show but even i have something different in my mind.when i saw the Lead india anthem on TV then i thought its a great work as a small school boy was trying to solve the problem means it is in every indian that they love their country want to do something .But in show they have chosen the already known people which is not absolutely correct .According to me TOI should search the people who has done alot for this country without any expectation n they r not famous not reach.TOI should search a real lead India.Assigning some work in limited time to contestents who r experienced is not the only solution.

    Hi Pooja,

The Lead India AD is no doubt fantastic. However, I wonder why these reality show guys can’t move beyond film personalities and cricketers. The tasks given to the contestants are for management students, and I don’t get how these tasks can be used to judge the leadership abilities of the participants.

In the end its just another SMS business launched by TOI & IDEA. Let’s accept it.

Well…I am sorry to say but i dont agree with Mr.Manoj Jain’s observations and comments about Mr. Javed Akthar. I feel proud that we have such a person in jury who is so much relaistic and straight forward. It might look to us that he is favouring muslims and not giving marks but lets accept that whatever happened in Gujarat was wrong and shameful and we should not just try to forget that Gujarat incident and think whoever is raising that issue now is favouring muslims. We are living in a secular india and for india to grow we need to make sure we dont have hatered or communal tensions among our indian people. For person who is standing in Lead india contest it’s expected that he needs to address this basic issue which is spreading like cancer in our progressing country. This communalism & corruption are two big roadblocks that might impact the progress our country and even it might destroy our country. Lets make it short and simple we need to accept that Gujrat incident is a black spot in our inidan history and lets make sure we don’t let it happen again…and yes we need to have Javed Akthar & Kiran Bedi as a jury in this show. Its such a good choice that TOI has done..
