I was invited to be the judge at VNIT Personality Contest. Let me share an interesting experience with you from the contest. One of the contestants, a wannabe entrepreneur, said that he wanted to go abroad for higher studies and then come back to India to setup his own enterprise. Naturally, he was grilled on why he thought it was best to leave India and study abroad and then come back. While he was right in his argument, I guess I’ve something to say to people who think that they don’t have any future in their own country. Some of us even think we don’t have enough opportunities.
Let me tell you a story. Once upon a time, in some remote part of the world, there lived people who had never seen the shoes. They’d roam bare feet and were pretty happy about it.
Two shoe manufacturing companies sent their sales men to see the business potential. Both of them roamed around and did a survey. Sales man of company A called back his office and said, “People here don’t know about shoes! We can’t do business here!”
Sales man of company B called back his office and said, “People here don’t know about shoes! Let’s begin with 10,000 pairs” 🙂
Simple story. great learning!
