One of the contestants of personality contest at VNIT, where I was one of the judges, said he wanted to go to USA so that he could get the new ideas and technology. I wasn’t quite impressed with that answer. Why would one go to some other country to get ideas? Do they have an environment where the brain gets more blood supply & produces all creative ideas?
Yesterday, Google introduce its Chrome browser in over 150 countries around the world. While I’m listening to press adress delivered by Mr. Sundar Pichai, an IIT Kanpur engineer and vice president of product management at Google, I’m thinking – what if Mr. Pichai was in India? What if we could have the top brains from our IIT Computer Science department in one place – pay them well and get them to do the browser thing in India? Do you think we could have built a better browser in India?
I’m not too sure. Because if it were as simple as it sounds – it would have been done by now. But, sadly, we are still busy providing end-to-end solutions.
Oh well, you know what? I believe I can use common sense to build better products. A better browser, better operating system, web tablets, better smart phones – is all possible from India.
…and I’m going to do that. Soon.
