Indians & The Civic Sense

As I write this post, my belief that Indians (almost 90% of them, at least) lack the civic sense is being strengthened. While I’m strugglling hard enough not to get disturbed by high decibles of sound produced by loudspeakers, I feel lost. The place where I reside is well inside the heart of the city & has two ‘Marriage Halls’ within 100 m distance. You got my point?

Celebrations are always on, throughout the year. Each ‘baaraat’ occupies 60% of the city’s busiest roads often creating traffic jams. People burn crackers on the road and no one minds. Right now there’s someone from the groom’s family on the microphone and singing songs on the top of his voice. There are three hospitals, again within 100 m distance. But no one seems to be bothered.

The sound is unbearable but the ‘baaratis’ are enjoying and dancing and no one wants to spoil the fun. they are having. We just tolerate. The police are no where around.

I don’t know what to write. The sound is just unbearable. Shit!

I’m completely sympathetic as I have seen that location.

PS: By the way its no where near the heart of the city 🙂
