International readers, I urge you to read about Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on wikipedia.

The title says it all, do I need to elaborate?

Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj : the name that inspires us and fills us with pride and motivation to bring a change, to fight against what’s wrong, to fight against injustice and claim our birthright – freedom!

We want great people in this country who will change our fate. We want leaders. We want ‘doers’, we want extra-ordinary men & women. We want someone who will change everything for better.

That great person is inside you. Its just that you are chosing him/her not to come out of its shell. Why are we so afraid of being the leader? Why do we (yours truly included) just write about stuff and not do anything about it? Everyone’s busy in his/her routine.

As the title says, we want Shivajis, but in neighbour’s house!

What’s wrong with us, fellas? Tell me?

The Big K

I’ll tell you 🙂 whats wrong!! Everybody talks about the great deeds of Shivaji … but there are’nt so many mentions about the easy life that he sacrificed. He couldve chosen to be a pawn of the Mughals and the British and lived a life of decadence … he choose a life of freedom instead. He had to struggle throughout his life … even his family was not spared of the same. Do we want the same fate as Shivaji then? Maybe not!! That is what is wrong … we are afraid of the struggle … and that is half the battle lost.

I know where your inspiration to write this came from. Anyway.

Going by the literal meaning of your post (I hope you didn’t mean ‘The Sivaji’, we don’t need a Shivaji today. Shivaji Maharaj fought for freedom and uprising of the Marathas. Probably a Mahatma Phule or a Babasaheb Ambedkar would have been a better choice.

Ok, now about your views. I’m giving you two options-
One, I see there are wrong doers in the society. I ignore them, because I think I’m a nobody. I continue my routine. One day I read your blog and get inspired. But instead of making noise about whats wrong, I decide to ignore it again and start doing what I think is right. I try to be the ‘Shivaji’
Two, I voice my opinion through whatever means I can. I urge people to voice their opinion too. I use the best possible media, a blog and an email to circulate my message and make as many people aware as I can. I feel that this small stir I’m trying to create will gather mass and reach to those who matter. I dont want or need to be a shivaji.

Take your pick or suggest me another way. We dont need 1000 leaders. But we need 100000000 such people who believe they can be one so that a true leader should emerge out of it and the rest are willing to follow.
