Business on Terror

26/11/2008 – yet another black day in the history of India.

I’m sick of these terrorist attacks. What makes me more sick is to see the business that’s being done by our own people on the terror. I call it Business on Terror. There are times when I feel sorry for the mentality of our own people. But no one seems to mind the dirty business on terror.

It all started with the news channels spreading the news all over the world, and terrorising even more people than the terrorists did. Everyone was glued to the television screens for almost three days. The news channels cashed on lots of bucks by showing the ‘Only on <channel name>’ titles. Reporters trying to give us minute by minute update, by lying on the ground in front of the Taj, was absolutely unnecessary. The reporters could have very well stood at a comfortably long distance to deliver the same news. But you know – they were sleeping on the roads, trying to tell us how they were risking their lives ‘for us’. That’s total bullshit, I think.

Now a popular TV channel has declared war on terror. When people are angry and demanding action, its easy to get support for anything that is anti-terror. I’m wondering what are these guys going to do, through their ‘war on terror’. We are being asked to ‘log-on to their websites and register’ – absolutely unnecessary. Our opinions are being asked – for Rs.3/- to Rs. 6/- per SMS. Another initiative a channel had taken the “Lead India” initiative. God knows what happend to the selected leader. I don’t see or hear anything positive coming out of the initiative. But one thing is sure – the channel did make lot of money through the initiative. No one pays attention to the initiative. Look at their website if you don’t trust me. The site doesn’t even load fully.

One of the leading film director was shown on TV roaming through the corridors of the Taj. I’m thinking bollywood is obviously going to make movies on the attack; and people will watch. Another dirty business on terror.

Politics – it has already reached its all time low. Politicians were asked to resigned and others are now ‘eyeing’ the vacant seats. The latest attacks are being used to gain political advantage.  Political parties are paying homage to the people who lost their lives by displaying their names on their own branded boards. The dirty business will continue – because its in our blood.

The common people – like you and I, we will keep the anger live for few more days. Then we will forget. Mind my words, we’ll forget everything. You know why? Because we always look around us for the ‘change makers’. You and I are just too cowards to look inside. Our anger will die with the flames of the candles we lit for the people who fought for us.

I sincerely wished India would take strong action, like USA did after 9/11. I wished India would invade POK and seal our boundaries. But looking at our politicians, I don’t think any of that happening in next 10 years.

Sorry Dr. Kalam, I don’t see India becoming a superpower by 2020; unless of course, we all change our attitude & mentality.

Don’t you think all Pakistan wants us to do is invade them? They are throwing baits. And will invading and defeating Pakistan (which is rather easy for us) solve the problem? Could US kill Taliban, Al Qaida or Osama Bin Laden when they raided already torn Afghanistan?

Terrorism is here to stay my friend. Thats the harsh reality. 🙂

    Anyway, nice dig!
