As my old (I mean regular) readers know, I do not watch TV even when it’s turned off. However, I turn it on once in a while just to give the overall TRP a boost. …and whenever I do that, the TV disappoints me. In my opinion, the motorcycle industry has grown in the recession. The logical reason could be that the depressed people buy motorcycles and wroom them on the roads without wearing helmet. So that they can die [...]

Engineering admissions will begin soon. Lot of talented Maharashtrian Brahmins will be denied admissions to engineering colleges because of the quota/reservation system. But since Maharashtrian Brahmin fraternity isn’t so close-knit, no one really bothers. The current Maharastrian Brahmins youth aren’t very entrepreneurial (my personal opinion, no offence meant) and therefore there aren’t (m)any educational institutions owned by us. It bothers me to see lot of Maharashtrian Brahmin youth without jobs (as much as I see any jobless youth). As one [...]

It feels great whenever I get appreciation email for the SuperBlog. One of the readers wrote to me asking how did the superblog came to life. So here is the story of the birth of The Big K’s Superblog! It was April 2005, I was employed with an Indian IT services company. Naturally, team meeting was an integral part of my routine. It was April 4, 2005 I remember (eh, ok! I checked the date here: First Post On SuperBlog} [...]
As most of you know – I’m not voting in this election. I’m not passing my judgement or opinion about who should be the next prime minister of India. However I made couple of interesting observations while watching a live show on local TV channel. The host of the TV show asked young fellas in the late twenties who should be the prime minister of India and why. Almost everyone wants a young prime minister. The only option they could [...]
Indian Reporter: Mr. President, what is America doing to help India tackle terrorism emanating from Pakistan? Mr. Obama: Your Prime Minister is a wonderful man. In the nuclear world, the biggest enemy in front of India & Pakistan is poverty. I spoke to Mr. Manmohan Singh on much wider issues. America must lead by example by reducing the carbon footprint. …blah…blah… I give you 0 on 10 for a vague answer to a very important question, Mr. Obama. Where’s the change? [...]
You have always been a great thinker, analyst & witty person. You gave life to so many people. You left us with a great treasure of your experiences and out of the world stories. I’ll always miss playing guitar for you. My Grandpa, Dr. Deshpande passed away today at 4:45 pm. He chose the occasion “Ram Navmi” (Birthday of Lord Ram) to say good bye to us. We published a book on his out of the world experiences as a [...]
I had to dig out this link : The Rupee Symbol (PDF) to believe that finance ministry of India has organized a competition to design the symbol to represent Rupee. Since everyone thinks we are going to be superpower by 2020 (and no one knows how :p ) , the design of Rupee Symbol holds extreme importance. Visit above link to go through the guidelines, rules et al. Then, India Times design team came up with few (weird) symbols: look [...]
I came across a company that’s advertising its services by hiring spammers. So I visited their official page and found out that they are based out of Lucknow (India). I visited their ‘about us’ page and found out their company motto: – We will not ask for customers business unless it is reasonably sure to us of delivering the desired solution to suffice the needs of the present and future. Good enough. Save the incorrect sentence construction; I believe the [...]
