I had been following developments on Wolfram Alpha website [ ] for quite some time now. Today, I tried it for the first time. To begin with, WA is not a search engine like Google. Google helps you find useful web pages from the Internet. Wolfram Alpha on the other hand, gets you direct answers to your questions.

Naturally, to put WA to test, I wanted to feed WA with the toughest question that it would burst WA’s biggest server into flames. After thinking hard, I came up with weird questions that are very relevant to all of us; like –

1. What is the size of the shoe of 18th official member of the Large Hadron Collider. Or

2. Why “Weigh Bridge” is called “Dharm Kaanta”.

But I thought I’d be nicer to WA. So I fed WA with the following. Here’s a screenshot –

A picture is worth 1000 words. Wolfram Alpha produces amazing results and I believe engineers, scientists are going to love it.

By the way, speaking about search engines , I dont understand why MS is NOW getting in BING? If Alpha Beta is soo awesome, whats the sense in bringing a clone of google?
