Bill Cosby says –

I don’t know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.”

How do you go about choosing the color combination for a website that pleases everyone? Everyone’s got different preferences for colors. Then, how do you select a theme for a website that pleases everyone? How do you make sure that it makes an ‘impact’ on the first time visitor?

Few years ago; I was talking to my colleagues about why we all preferred Google search engine over Yahoo. Lot of my colleagues opined that Google’s got a cleaner interface and only has minimum required stuff on their home page. Even the results page is very simple. Most of the modern web-sites these days use simple color combinations. World’s most popular websites use ‘light blue’ as their primary color; but not everyone likes it.

So, how can one choose color combination for a website that pleases ‘almost’ everyone who visits it.

Biggie, what I believe is “Beauty lies in Simplicity”. I loved the theme.

It’s not about pleasing visitors, as much as it is about the design getting out of the way and letting (and in fact helping) the content take centrestage). Which is where Google is the zen.

Congrats for the new format biggie. It’s going to take a few days to get used to it. I personally preferred reading the entire post on the main page itself and blue and white combo seemed comfortable. hmmmm…
