Why is Shah Rukh Khan so important?

by The Big K on August 17, 2009

This post is not a rant against Shah Rukh Khan. I used to like SRK’s movies too. This post is about the fuss going on in India about the recent incident happened at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey. The King Khan was grilled for about two hours by U.S. officials because his name appeared in the alert list generated by computer.

The whole nation is angry. Since the issue is of national importance, Indian officials had to intervene and rescue King Khan. Indian Embassy in the USA had to interfere in the matter. I fail to understand what’s going on in this country.

It’s THEIR country. They are worried about THEIR security. They have right to check any person they suspect. They are responsible for security of their own countrymen. Why the hell is India bothered?

They might be questioning 100s of people every day. It’s their job. If SRK was questioned for whatever reasons, what’s wrong in that? Why are you worried? Why does it bother you? At least, their security folks are alert enough to make sure that there wasn’t any blast in the US post 9-11. Unlike here in India – where terrorists do the bomb-testing anywhere they want.

I sometimes feel sorry for the overall IQ of my fellows here. SRK, you are a great star; but don’t disturb the whole government for a simple security check. There are 100s like you who have to go through similar situation every day.

By the way, why is Shah Rukh Khan so important to all of us? That’s not a sarcastic question, let me clarify! Just a genuine question. Tell me.

I guess the furore is not because Shahrukh Khan was questioned. It was because folks here think he was detained and grilled because he is a ‘Khan’.

Ask this question to any one you know. How many Khans and Sheikhs have be befriended out of brotherlihood without being modest? Hardly any… It is common around here. But rare for an American official to be partial and prejudiced.

Without being elaborate, any guy will create the noise the way Shahrukh did when his integrity and honesty is questioned.

PS: Americans have a right to question any one who enters their country. But questioning on religious grounds is unfair.

Maybe you wrote this post so that SRK might also reply just like ‘shwaas’ director ??

wait a sec, may be because SRK is not of this kind he might be famous
3.why is it that we still have communal disturbances though we teach our kids “untiy is strenght”
4.why is it that we crib so much and do so little?
5.why is it that we complain about somethign what we cant change? or make an attmept to change?
6.why is it that we pollute and waste water even though we know we dont have any water to waste?
7.why do people always have ‘chalta haine’ attitude?

That’s terrible, when will we put a stop to this nonsense. Yes, I understand that we need to protect our country, but if he says he’s a STAR, then let him go by w/o any hassles. What will he think of we as Americans?

Maybe all of you are right up to some extent But tell me one thing SRK was there for the past 2 weeks for the shooting of My Name is Khan But this never happened that means something too harsh frisking must have happened that has persuaded him to take such an action and bring the world attention

I want to assert that SRK has brought an issue of importance in limelight He has never refused to cooperate but when the water goes over the bridge you have to take an action. This issue is a lesson for India that our security measures must be uplifted to ensure a safe place for all of us. The infringement must be controlled.
I appreciate SRK for putting this thing on the world table once again that too on much large scale of sensitivity.
By the way why people are having problem even if this is a publicity stunt as this has done something good.
SRK is surely the superstar
