Every person his/her own views and thinking. Deependra’s comment (below) on my blog post “Why should I stay in India?“. I’m convinced that the topic is closer to most people’s heart. I am not trying to convince people to come back to India. However, I believe we need at least few people who think about their own country & wish to bring a change.

——-

look man if u want to go to usa … if u have a dream ..if u want something ….just reach for it and grab it ..just dont wait till eternity or the end of this world.

India would be like U.S someday ….sorry bro cant wait for someday ,cant wait for tomorrow …..u need things and good life today ….. u need to act today ….now u ve got two options ..geta high paying job in india and fullfill ur dream there or …pack ur bag …and get a life in some developed country …..

no need to change the country ..no need to show patriotism ..no need to say crap dilaouges…..dont think about the stupid country ..THINK ABOUT URSELF….think about ur dream ..and bro ..

THATS THE REASON WHY UR FRIENDS NEVER WANT TO COME BACK …..NEITHER AM I …..

——-

What would you like to say to Deependra?

I am sorry for above comment , but on a politer note, i would say this to him
“go get some patriotism from the very same US”.
Instead of the post being why I should saty in INDIA, may be a post saying” WHY I DONT WANT TO STAY in INIDA” will show up more negative aspects of INDIA. I really don’t know why we try comparing our motherland with different countries? We don’t compare our motehr with your frineds mother and say” she is nice, i will go and stay with her I wll ask her to adopt me!!” will we do that? ,
Whats the point in eating resources here and serving a different country?
How are such thoughts manifested on the first basis?
How can one develop such intense feeling for another country and not for own motherland?
is it only Ferraris and Mercedes which determin our nature ?
sigh! i have nothing to say for all of you guys!” just feel sorry for our nation

@Big K and Durga: Glad to know you are patriotic and want to change things and think about the country. May be now the option of going to a foreign country for a livelihood seems such an unpatriotic idea. But about two decades back, these were the countries that offered opportunities a compared to our own country full of corruption, non-functioning public services, riots, rampant casteism and lack of opportunity.

People who were lauded in the west found it difficult to even find a decent job here. The western countries on the contrary welcomed anyone with talent to showcase their abilities and succeed.

Who would like to leave behind their own people and homeland just like that. Living on foreign soil with dual identities, coming back only once in many years to taste home food or trying to imbibe the same values you have grown with in a foreign land isn’t easy, Is it?

@ K: I’d like to say some thing to you. Wrong English usage in the title! ‘Would’ is past tense. It has to be “India will be like US some day”.

As for Deependra, it is his personal choice. You can not force any one to be patriotic. And believe me, settling down in US is not unpatriotic. Even in India most of the people stay in big cities because they want better quality of life, better homes, better transport, better restaurants, better malls… list is endless.

This is as good as the engineers on our forum. Every one wants ready made ‘better’ things. Everyone wants to run after already bettered things. No one wants to make their own things/places better.

    @ Swapna,
Times change, things change. Moving with time is what is needed. Because we did not have opportunities 20 years ago doesn’t imply we don’t have to change it now. I am not saying we have numerous opportunity in INDIA.But every situation can be taken advantage of. Be it what! For example: recession: why are we so bothered if US is providing work for their own people and not encouraging Outsourcing, previously it was the same nation which said : globalisation? If they were really so open to talent, then why this bias? Why do we have to wait for them to give us work? Why cant we come up with our own work? Why is it that collapse of banks in US affect INDIAN economy? They are no less. They want resources . we are going there? when the uneomployment rate is rising there we are sent back.
Not only there, in Australia as well, there is nothing like Apply Work Visa and come here to find opportunity, they take in only Permanent residents. I sometimes read something like ” guy with some INDIAN Name…” , they recognize us with our names our identity”, once for a purpose I called up a guy named SAM, later while conversation I realized through his accent he is INDIAN and then I came to know he is none other than one of my companies ex employee! see, people forget thier language, they even land up changing names! for what??? Why do we always want to look like them?? why don’t we stand for our identity? Why do we always look out for far greener pasters?

@ mayur: settling in cities => moving within the country, either way you are serving the country.

@Durga: How can you define ‘Serving’ a country? There are multiple people who are working in India and helping American or Japanese companies grwo. How do you defend that?

    @ Mayur,
Are not they helping INDIAN economy grow? Are they not putting the name of INDIA in world map?
If it was not their effort, would India be known as IT hub?
There are many more reasons what we can point out to say every person in INDIA ( I am not talking about politicians or corrupt people. every country has them so let’s not talk about the other side of coin) contributes to his country in one way or another
