Indian Business & Ethics

I had a chance to meet the general manager (IT) of a big corporation. He was fascinated to learn about my venture and after talking to me for some time, he started using his brain – he came up with few more ideas on how I could make ‘Lot Of Money’.  He calmly suggested that I should start selling the user data I have. He informed me that I can make lot of money quickly by selling this data. When I said it was against my business ethics, he said ‘Come on, everyone else is doing it!”.

His suggestions was simple, “You just have to sell the email IDs – and what’s the problem with that?”. I responded, “We care a lot about user privacy and have turned down many such offers in past.” Upon hearing that, he said, “No one will know you sold it”.

After hearing this, I was completely pissed off! Well none of it reflected on my face as my smile was shielding all the bad words I had for him.

I just hope to build a completely clean, multi-billion dollar business and show the world that businesses can be built & run without being corrupt/ethics-less.

What’s your opinion?
