Over the past few years, I’ve noticed an ugly trend among software engineers who are kicked out of India for onsite assignments. Now, ‘onsite’ does make parents & neighbours feel that their child is ‘Rancho’ from 3 Idiots. Plus the Software Engineers also feel better about themselves.

So, how do we get some fame and show off our achievements to our friend circle? Simple: –

1. Click a photograph in front of Eiffel Tower / Niagara Falls / etc.

2. Upload it to your GTalk, Yahoo, Facebook IM with a status message like “Feeling Good” or some Quote, you’d not able to recite on your own.

Good going, people.

Hey man, wouldn't you like to see beautiful things/places on earth? And if you do visit places, you would definitely click pictures or won't you? And if u do click, you would like to show them to your friend or okay very close relatives? You won't paste them on FB maybe, but you'd show by some other way…or won't you?

I've changed my mind now. I think I'll flaunt my visit to The Taj Mahal Hotel in the same way.

Many of my friends post their photos from Goa, Rajasthan, Kerala, Hiamachal, Sikkim etc. They don't need an 'onsite' reason to post the photos. Nobody puts a gun to your head and command you to leave the country for onsite assignments (That takes care of 'kicked out' part of your post). It is really a matter of personal choice to stay back or see interesting places around the world if one is presented by an opportunity. Request you to thoroughly study the subject matter upon which you wish to post. I would not say a blog because yours are generally 4-5 liner sarcastic comments which barely qualify for the real blog.

Completely Agreed Big K no matter what others think. When this "onsite ppl" are in India they won't take a single photo but when they go to "faren" they click photos and fill their hardrive/facebook account with loads of crap photos clicked at random places. Also this so called "engineers" do the clerical work of foreign clients and if that clerical work is difficult to do in offshore an "onsite" is called for.
