Some Day, I’ll Reject People Just Because They Belong To Pune

Punekars don’t stop telling me that I’ve chosen to live in a ‘backward’, ‘Hot’ city. ‘So….how do you feel after leaving Pune?”, a new Punekar asked me yesterday. My answer, “Awesome”, was enough to put him in silence mode for few seconds.

I’ve often wondered why Punekars think that World = Pune and the rest of the world is nothing but junkyard. Not one – but almost every Punekar seems to have that opinion. Well, I’d have been happier if they kept their emotions about Pune to themselves. But they seem to have this nasty habit of bragging about everything ‘Pune’. I was totally floored when someone called the big gutter in the Pune city as ‘River’. 😐

Why I didn’t keep my word of not touching the topic again? Because Punekar’s don’t want me to. I’ve made my mind that in future when my company will be very big – I’ll reject job applicants from Pune with a clear message, “Punekar, huh?”.

PS: Note to Punekars: Don’t brag about your malls, for Heaven’s sake. We’ve a mall 3 times as big as your central & SGS combined. It’s just that we don’t go on boasting about it everywhere.

Though I didn't agree with you in your earlier post "showing off status in facebook", I totally agree here.
The Backward Hottest city is my home and sooner or later I'll go back to live there.

I don't hate Punekars. I just don't like their attitude of looking down on others.

Yeah! Punekars suck! A lot of my marati friends hate them for their attitude. Such awful driving and such arrogance, it shows how cheap they are. Look at cities like Bangalore and Mumbai and be welcoming to people. They will love you. If not, people dont give a damm about your city. if you dont change, people will hate your city soon, just like some do it with chennai.

I am a Marathi but not from pune. I hate puneri ppl the most. They consider themselves better than others. And they are most rude and arrogant ppl. Now pune has ppl from different places of Maharashtra and India and because we ppl from outside pune there is still some humanity and welcome ness left in pune. And yeah those who are asking us to leave please stfu. I m thankful to God that I wasn’t born in pune. I m better human being now than punekars

PUNE has reached its prime and soon its downfall will start , as for each city in world , I stayed in Pune during 2004- 2006 , that time as well I faced lot of attitude , ego from Pune Ppl , Now I think it will be worst , those poor souls who are living in Pune , thankfully I decided never to come this city ever , that was correct decision,

If you want to exploit Pune to best , just go there for 1 or 2 days every month , you will get fired up seeing these low life , frog in well attitude of pune ppl , you can utilize that fire in work , business anywhere ,

I moved in to Pune 4 months ago from London and you are absolutely right. I don’t mean to generalize but they do think too much of themselves. They have horrible driving skills (worse than Delhi and yes Ive driven in both the cities). Here everyone is trying to compete with each other. They are unwilling to flex their attitudes. To the person who mentioned that they’re similar to British people, I beg to disagree. You have an eye contact with a British man, he will smile at you. You have an eye contact with Punekar man, he will ask you “Zada problem hai kya?”. Lol.

This is what I have experienced Recently….two boys on a bike at KP signal after looking at my vehicle’s number late – “MH -31” said – “MH-31 ??? kaha ka hai?? . to which the other one replied – “Nagpur, India ka Pakistan hai vo!! “. I was like what the f**k!! I was about to turn and shout at them but they just drove off!! 🙁 🙁
Same thing is at my workplace where some people just think Nagpur doesn’t belong to Maharashtra!!! 🙁

I have been in Pune for 8 years. I feel Puneri people are very arrogant( that might be normal for them). Driving is just like a tough exam. People on bullets will drive like they own the roads. Also, other people will drive rash and do a lot of dadagiri. The worst part here is, they do not respect others. A small child here uses foul language with elders. I feel horrible. I am eager to leave pune after my education. Last but not the least. People are cruel, criminal minded, will fear you that they have contacts with powerful people. I hate this city!
