When The Interviewer Is An Idiot…

My theory says that smart people will always land in trouble. Being honest may also go against you – just because the person you’re being honest to is an idiot. I was shocked to learn how idiotic can Indian Interviewers (obviously from IT Industry) be. Here’s an experience shared by a friend who attended campus interview for a reputed IT company-

Interviewer: Tell me about your weakness..

Friend: I’m not very good at planning, especially when it comes to planning my tasks within a very short time. I’m however trying to learn it by observing few people who I think are very good at it…

Interviewer: Never give that answer to anyone. Let me give you five weaknesses and you pick up one from them.

——–

I personally know a few interviewers (who were my colleagues) who only wanted the hackneyed answers – “My impatience is my weakness”, “I am a workaholic”, “I just don’t say ‘no’ until I get my work done” … sounding as if their weakness is a great asset to the recruiting company!

What’s wrong if someone is totally honest? What’s wrong if someone is aware of their weakness and working on it?

What’s your take?

Why do interviewers ask such a que. if they know they expect just fake answers? Honest answer doesn’t work for this que, true. I went crazy while preparing for this answer for my 1st interview.

Interviewing is an art. If the interviewer is capable of measuring a person, why should he have to ask this foolish question. In fact we all human beings having our own weekness. Interviewer should look at the person is capable for the position or not.

Next time when i go for interview, i am going to slam him, if he asks this question. 🙂
