Baba Ramdev, his Satyagraha, the government aka Congress, the opposition aka BJP and we the people are making headlines all over the print & electronic media. After looking at the headlines and how the journalists interpret the situation & words to please their bosses – I decided to write this ‘biased’ post. I’ve been reading comments to articles on Baba Ramdev all over the leading websites & blogs and found out that those are mostly written by idiots who are 1. Pessimistic 2. Clueless & 3. Yuppie. I don’t belong to any of the three categories. I’m a self-appointed deputy of common sense and following views should open many eyes & hopefully, minds.

Baba Ramdev

Baba Ramdev

Can We Really Get Rid Of Corruption?

In mathematical terms – no. But practically, yes, to a great extent that it won’t affect our everyday lives. The fight against corruption isn’t against 100% eradication of corruption but minimizing it to such an extent that its effect won’t be visible. Why do we see potholes on streets? Because the corrupt contractor used low-quality material and produced a high-quality bill to the work assigning agencies. Why did he do that? Because he/she has no fear that the act will put him behind bars. The fight against corruption is about making sure that the administration is capable & willing enough to punish the guilty. Getting my point?

Can We Bring Black Money Back?

Yes – by declaring the black money deposited in foreign banks as national asset. How long does it take? My estimate is not more than 1 week. If America can start bombing other countries in a week, why can’t we simply ‘declare’ it as national property? I’m talking about united efforts by the government. If US can pressurize swiss banks to close Wikileaks founder Julian Assange’s bank account overnight, we can’t we make the swiss banks return all our money over a period of 3 months? Those opposing this idea tell me – WHY it is NOT possible?

Is Baba Ramdev ‘Dhongi’ or ‘Thug’ as Digvijay Calls Him?

We don’t know. BUT, instead of making such claims, if Congress appoints CBI top officials to probe into Baba Ramdev’s ’empire’ (not using the word in a negative sense, please) and tell us how he’s cheated and how he himself owns lot of money in Swiss Banks, we’ll not trust Baba Ramdev. But Congress just can’t do it! The evidence as of now, points that Baba is clean. And frankly speaking, can’t a person be clean, free of corruption and morally & ethically right?

Do I Have To Be Perfect To Criticize?

I just don’t buy this ‘word-weapon’ used by most people. Baba Ramdev might have made mistakes – but those are negligible (again, talk of evidence here!) than crimes committed by the Congress leader. Do they have any explanation of why India is STILL a developing country even after 60 years of Independence and almost equivalent time of Congress ruling? Don’t give me that ‘Population Is The Problem’ bullshit. Population is an asset, idiot! No one is perfect, but it’s our DUTY to point out the WRONG.

When I say that, people bring in ‘moral police’ and ‘who are you to judge?’ what’s  right & what’s wrong bullshit. Hurting animals is – WRONG. Disrespecting elders is – WRONG. Helping others is – RIGHT. Corruption is – BAD. Isn’t it simple? Or do we need ‘guidelines’ for this as well? Well if you think yes, then read your religion’s holy book. It’s full of great advice that you’ve forgotten.

Should Baba Ramdev Join Politics?

First, we yell ‘Nice People Don’t Join Politics’. When nice people do we say, “Look at their political ambitions! They want money, fame and power”. I really hate this ‘crabby’ attitude – keeping on pulling each others legs and not letting the others nice. What’s wrong if Baba Ramdev wants to join politics? Tell me WHAT’S WRONG? Give me that regular junk – “Because his profession is teaching ‘Yog’ & he should stick to it.”. Oh yeah dude? Then Amitabh Bachchan should mind his family business which is ‘farming’ and politicians should quit their jobs and become ‘teachers’ – because they own all the educational intuitions. Oh well, I don’t know what the Gandhi family should do – because I don’t know what their profession is and apparently, they don’t have an income source.

Engineering & Medical Education In Regional Languages, are you mad?

Oh well oh well. Talk about the country that leads the world in ‘Engineering’ – Germany, right? Germans don’t study English and still they kick ass. Japanese engineers study everything in Japanese and be world leaders in Cars, Electronics and Innovation. What about us?

Can we do fine without Rs. 500 & Rs. 1000 notes?

If US can do absolutely fine with the top $100 bills, we can do too. Obviously 70% of the people in India don’t have huge income and obviously they don’t have expenditure in 500 or 1000 rupee notes. For the rest of us – the richer idiots – do we not have credit & debit cards? If not, my banker will be more than happy to give one to you. Since your expenses are in multiples of 500 to 1000 rupees, I”m sure you have quite some money in your bank and any bank will be more than delighted to offer you the plastic money. If no, use cheque or net banking. I don’t think it’s going to be a ‘bigger’ problem than having our money siphoned out in other countries.

Oh yes, but you will no longer be able to bribe the babus and accept bribe from others. Sorry folks, that’s the way it should be.

Technical Difficulties In Removing Rs. 500 & Rs. 1000 notes from circulation?

Government says the big difficulty in banning Rs. 500 & 1000 rupee notes from circulation is that it will have to print huge number of notes and their printing press isn’t capable. Boo-Hoo! Crappy Reason! How long does it take to built the special money printing press? If a newspaper printing press can press lakhs of newspapers, a money-printing press can at least print half of it? Being an engineer, I know that the analogy is not correct – but don’t give us such stupid technical problems.

Oh well, am I sounding immature in saying this? Think logically. You take all your ‘legal’ 500 & 1000 rupee notes to bank and in return bank gives you 100, 50, 10 rupee notes. Simple.

What about Inflation After Flood Of Money In Market?

First of all, the money won’t be distributed like ‘Prasad’ is distributed after puja. So don’t talk about Inflation. I’m even guessing that prices will come down because people won’t have 500 notes to shell out – but that’s more of an imagination. People won’d directly get money – it will be invested in development work. I’d demand investing lot of money in building jails so that corrupt people can be accommodated in them.

Can we trust the Governement to ‘invest’ money in development work – absolutely no. That’s why, we need a reform in our election system. I support US style election system where we’ll make potential presidential candidates to debate and explain their policies and action items to us and then we choose between the two. Right now, we never know who’s going to be our PM even after elections are over. Is this kind of reform possible? Again – tell me why not? Give me logical reasons.

Why Isn’t Ramdev Baba Talking About Female Foeticide?

Yeah, I agree. Why isn’t Baba Ramdev talking about pathetic 3G speeds in India and why HDFC hasn’t registered my credit card in my net-banking account?

Where Is Prime Minister, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi?

Isn’t it funny, surprising and shocking that the ‘key’ people aren’t missing from the scene? Remember Rahul Gandhi sitting on ‘Darna’ against Mayavati sarkar? Where is he? Does he not care of poor people beaten by police? What about Sonia Gandhi? Bharat Ki Bahu isn’t even commenting on the issue after watching women being beaten brutally by police? And where is our “Highly Qualified” Man Mohan Singh? Just waiting for a command from remote control?

Will I get ‘jailed’ for talking against the governement?

…bah.

…but all my friends are talking against Baba Ramdev & his political ambitions & tweeting about it.

Your yuppie, low-waist jeans wearing, spike-sporting, idols and inspirations are tweeting against baba Ramdev and telling how it is IMPOSSIBLE to bring black money back to India. Well, you are hopeless.

I know no one is perfect. We don’t have to be perfect to point out the wrongs. Baba Ramdev might be right or wrong, but his intentions and actions are legal and logical. It’s very encouraging that someone has taken a lead to take actions against corruption and government.

It takes guts.

Can We Really Get Rid Of Corruption? in mathematics we can but practically it is not as easy because its not just the higher officials but its there everywhere. Come to some sense that it cannot be fought overnight, it does take time and i believe this government is trying hard. We see all this corruption this time but does not seeing it during other government mean that there was no corruption??
Should Baba Ramdev Join Politics? he can, cause he has every right but you listen to the man how seriously he says death penalty for anyone caught in corruption… does he ever talk in realistic term except when he is doing yoga. i strongly feel EDUCATED people should come into politics.
Can we do fine without Rs. 500 & Rs. 1000 notes? … dude we can go to malls and show our credit cards but where will farmers go?? UPA has some common sense when talking into issues as it is not senseless to just make a rule without thinking the effect just like RSS and others to in an instinctive way.. and LOL and what ever you are studying let me give you a bit of wisdom that printing notes are not same as printing your early morning news papers cause of the security and other printing procedures that makes it very hard to print your own note with printers at your house
And the lines .” I’m even guessing that prices will come down because people won’t have 500 notes to shell out – but that’s more of an imagination.” needs some maturity ..really man grow up and what and where you are studying dont do it for marks .. do it for your knowledge cause it shows when you write or speak out… have a great day

Quote: Come to some sense that it cannot be fought overnight, it does take time and i believe this government is trying hard.

K: Sure, it can’t be fought overnight. UPA has been ruling for most of the time since Independence. Tell me what steps has UPA taken against corruption and if UPA is serious about fighting corruption, how come they let corruption mushroom in every strata of society?

Quote: how seriously he says death penalty for anyone caught in corruption… does he ever talk in realistic term except when he is doing yoga. i strongly feel EDUCATED people should come into politics.

K: What’s wrong in offering death penalty to corrupt people. Okay, we don’t want to hang those who were caught red-handed accepting Rs. 500 bribe. But what about those who are cheating the natures to the tunes of Rs. 1 crore and more? Aren’t they responsible for snatching the morsel from poor man’s hand? Hang everyone found guilty in corruption involving more than 1 crore rupees. Practical enough?

Quote: printing notes are not same as printing your early morning news papers cause of the security and other printing procedures that makes it very hard to print your own note with printers at your house

K: Being an engineer, I know printing money is not same as printing newspapers. But is it impossible to print the currency? If the government is serious and can spend crores of rupees in organizing commonwealth games, why can’t they just invest in setting up the required infrastructure? Take 4 months to setup the press and take 8 months to actually print the money. Practical enough?

Quote: dude we can go to malls and show our credit cards but where will farmers go??

K: The double ‘question mark ??’ at the end of your question shows me how ‘literate’ you are. 60% of people in India are directly & indirectly dependent on Agriculture in India. I hope you’re aware of the perpetual issue of farmer suicide. Are you supporting that farmers should trade without accountability and without banks involved? If yes, I clearly see that you are a supporter of black money for trade. The big farmers who trade in lakhs of rupees are capable of opening bank accounts and make transactions. Government of India has declared that any transaction over Rs. 20k should NOT be done in cash. Those farmers who trade to the tune of those limits can (and should) very well use cheques.

Don’t you think government should focus on setting up banks or branches in rural areas than hurting innocent and hungry people while they were sleeping?

Wow! Another gr8 article. However, few points I’d like to differ. Banning higher currency notes may solve smaller problem like offering & accepting ‘spot bribe’ but its not an overall bigger deterrent. There is a parallel economy (off-course bigger than over main economy) consisting mainly (or may be solely) of black money. Banning higher notes will only make that economy adapt. But never the less, anyone saying it is NOT doable definitely needs to shake their brains.
And for binil jacob (another example that people are so immature to distinguish between right & wrong for their own self, let alone for the country) tell me, is currency printing more difficult than building warships & aeroplanes or rocket motors & SLV ? If we can do that, why not printing presses ? If it would have been that difficult, we’d not have tons of fake notes circulating in economy, printed by a ‘starving & dying’ neighbor of ours. You’ve said ‘Come to some sense that it cannot be fought overnight, it does take time and i believe this government is trying hard.’ Did we ever talk about a fortnight ? It has been more than 5 decades of con-gress (antonym of pro-gress) rule, please do some calculation how much fortnights are there in that (That is, if you can use your brain, otherwise ask me & I’ll do that for you). If this govt is really taking steps to fight corruption then why is not coming down, its increasing day by day. Who is stopping them to fight ? Why don’t they (or their dogs, that is YOU) tell us what they are doing ? (I guess you don’t want to say terms like 2G, CWG etc are measures to fight corruption) Also, in the interest of nation, common public would like to know, what actually is stopping the ‘all mighty’ govt from fighting & bringing down corruption & what support public can give ? (Please don’t give me bullshit that its all a classified information, NO IT IS NOT) It is very easy to praise congress as we’ve been conditioned & taught to do that since our childhood (I know this because I used to be a big congress bhakt once, ready to justify their every action) BUT all that changes once I started using my brain & once I started THINKING.
Oh BTW, talking about farmers, how come you people never think of them when they are dying of hunger or committing suicides for few hundred rupees ? When it comes about stopping higher denomination notes, all of sudden you become their savior ? Ever heard of Kisan card or similar schemes ? It can very well be enhanced to have a much much wider reach. Remember, every transaction that happens electronically, can be tracked & traced, unlike paper transactions.

“If US can pressurize swiss banks to close Wikileaks founder Julian Assange’s bank account overnight, we can’t we make the swiss banks return all our money over a period of 3 months? Those opposing this idea tell me – WHY it is NOT possible”

    It is possible!!
But the way US can do it, is by having a very large and multiple leverage points. And that comes from an extremely good and far-sighted foreign policy and implementation of it. Even with that much leverage, US had problem in getting info people who evade tax in US from Swiss banks. This is until as recently as, the past recession. And during that recession only did they get some leverage to get more info.

Whereas, India does not have much leverage.

    It is possible?? yes!!
    But will it happen overnight??No!!
Are our people working to get that info?? Probably Yes.
Are they going to do anything about it?? Probably No. Only selectively, where and when it is useful for them.

I dont think that only Congress politicians will have hoards of money in Swiss Accounts. Many others will have them too. And given this, I dont think any govt will work on it. Its like an code of conduct. No one will touch it, because it will is mutually beneficial to all the politicos.
More than the Politicos, I think it will be the HNIs of this country. And they too will pressurizing there favorite politicians to concentrate on other activities.

A grand conspiracy by the upper echelon against the common man?? Do I sound paranoid or is it 1984!!

Everyone knows Congress alone is not guilty. Even opposition ministers are tainted and I’m not supporting BJP anywhere in my post.

US has abilities to turn many screws, and it gives them an advantage. However Assange’s bank account locking was done internally not openly as a nation. I’m calling for a nation demanding money, openly. The point is – IT IS POSSIBLE. It may take a year, but it is possible!

Will the government do it on their own? Of course not. Assuming we still have some democracy left, why not pressurize the government? They are just handful, like the British, who are deciding the fate of crores of people.

The Banks are governed by the countries’ Laws.
The generic problem in getting the details of the account, are that they are owned by the account owners. Unless you know the people/account details, you cannot convert them to govt. property. That is, if you can do it in the first place.

My point here is, it is not very simple. It can be done, yes. How.. I am not very sure as of now. I do know for sure is that we, as a country, need to have very strong arm twisting tactics up our sleeve as US has and used many times before.

Why does everyone keep talking about it being difficult. Guys listen if these agitations had not taken place none of what has happened till now would have happened.
The government is not serious about this. Look at how it is trying to put mud on hazare and the likes.
Now that there is some general positive vibe against the governement to force it to bring the black money back, support his movement for heavens sake. Not everyone who has a safron cloth is to be treated as a communal maniac. Though some of his claims seem tall, its only experience that only if you ask for maximum punishment that you will get atleast some minimum atleast. So if not death atleast some stern punishment for the frigging corrupt maniacs.
