Baba Ramdev, his Satyagraha, the government aka Congress, the opposition aka BJP and we the people are making headlines all over the print & electronic media. After looking at the headlines and how the journalists interpret the situation & words to please their bosses – I decided to write this ‘biased’ post. I’ve been reading comments to articles on Baba Ramdev all over the leading websites & blogs and found out that those are mostly written by idiots who are 1. Pessimistic 2. Clueless & 3. Yuppie. I don’t belong to any of the three categories. I’m a self-appointed deputy of common sense and following views should open many eyes & hopefully, minds.
Can We Really Get Rid Of Corruption?
In mathematical terms – no. But practically, yes, to a great extent that it won’t affect our everyday lives. The fight against corruption isn’t against 100% eradication of corruption but minimizing it to such an extent that its effect won’t be visible. Why do we see potholes on streets? Because the corrupt contractor used low-quality material and produced a high-quality bill to the work assigning agencies. Why did he do that? Because he/she has no fear that the act will put him behind bars. The fight against corruption is about making sure that the administration is capable & willing enough to punish the guilty. Getting my point?
Can We Bring Black Money Back?
Yes – by declaring the black money deposited in foreign banks as national asset. How long does it take? My estimate is not more than 1 week. If America can start bombing other countries in a week, why can’t we simply ‘declare’ it as national property? I’m talking about united efforts by the government. If US can pressurize swiss banks to close Wikileaks founder Julian Assange’s bank account overnight, we can’t we make the swiss banks return all our money over a period of 3 months? Those opposing this idea tell me – WHY it is NOT possible?
Is Baba Ramdev ‘Dhongi’ or ‘Thug’ as Digvijay Calls Him?
We don’t know. BUT, instead of making such claims, if Congress appoints CBI top officials to probe into Baba Ramdev’s ’empire’ (not using the word in a negative sense, please) and tell us how he’s cheated and how he himself owns lot of money in Swiss Banks, we’ll not trust Baba Ramdev. But Congress just can’t do it! The evidence as of now, points that Baba is clean. And frankly speaking, can’t a person be clean, free of corruption and morally & ethically right?
Do I Have To Be Perfect To Criticize?
I just don’t buy this ‘word-weapon’ used by most people. Baba Ramdev might have made mistakes – but those are negligible (again, talk of evidence here!) than crimes committed by the Congress leader. Do they have any explanation of why India is STILL a developing country even after 60 years of Independence and almost equivalent time of Congress ruling? Don’t give me that ‘Population Is The Problem’ bullshit. Population is an asset, idiot! No one is perfect, but it’s our DUTY to point out the WRONG.
When I say that, people bring in ‘moral police’ and ‘who are you to judge?’ what’s right & what’s wrong bullshit. Hurting animals is – WRONG. Disrespecting elders is – WRONG. Helping others is – RIGHT. Corruption is – BAD. Isn’t it simple? Or do we need ‘guidelines’ for this as well? Well if you think yes, then read your religion’s holy book. It’s full of great advice that you’ve forgotten.
Should Baba Ramdev Join Politics?
First, we yell ‘Nice People Don’t Join Politics’. When nice people do we say, “Look at their political ambitions! They want money, fame and power”. I really hate this ‘crabby’ attitude – keeping on pulling each others legs and not letting the others nice. What’s wrong if Baba Ramdev wants to join politics? Tell me WHAT’S WRONG? Give me that regular junk – “Because his profession is teaching ‘Yog’ & he should stick to it.”. Oh yeah dude? Then Amitabh Bachchan should mind his family business which is ‘farming’ and politicians should quit their jobs and become ‘teachers’ – because they own all the educational intuitions. Oh well, I don’t know what the Gandhi family should do – because I don’t know what their profession is and apparently, they don’t have an income source.
Engineering & Medical Education In Regional Languages, are you mad?
Oh well oh well. Talk about the country that leads the world in ‘Engineering’ – Germany, right? Germans don’t study English and still they kick ass. Japanese engineers study everything in Japanese and be world leaders in Cars, Electronics and Innovation. What about us?
Can we do fine without Rs. 500 & Rs. 1000 notes?
If US can do absolutely fine with the top $100 bills, we can do too. Obviously 70% of the people in India don’t have huge income and obviously they don’t have expenditure in 500 or 1000 rupee notes. For the rest of us – the richer idiots – do we not have credit & debit cards? If not, my banker will be more than happy to give one to you. Since your expenses are in multiples of 500 to 1000 rupees, I”m sure you have quite some money in your bank and any bank will be more than delighted to offer you the plastic money. If no, use cheque or net banking. I don’t think it’s going to be a ‘bigger’ problem than having our money siphoned out in other countries.
Oh yes, but you will no longer be able to bribe the babus and accept bribe from others. Sorry folks, that’s the way it should be.
Technical Difficulties In Removing Rs. 500 & Rs. 1000 notes from circulation?
Government says the big difficulty in banning Rs. 500 & 1000 rupee notes from circulation is that it will have to print huge number of notes and their printing press isn’t capable. Boo-Hoo! Crappy Reason! How long does it take to built the special money printing press? If a newspaper printing press can press lakhs of newspapers, a money-printing press can at least print half of it? Being an engineer, I know that the analogy is not correct – but don’t give us such stupid technical problems.
Oh well, am I sounding immature in saying this? Think logically. You take all your ‘legal’ 500 & 1000 rupee notes to bank and in return bank gives you 100, 50, 10 rupee notes. Simple.
What about Inflation After Flood Of Money In Market?
First of all, the money won’t be distributed like ‘Prasad’ is distributed after puja. So don’t talk about Inflation. I’m even guessing that prices will come down because people won’t have 500 notes to shell out – but that’s more of an imagination. People won’d directly get money – it will be invested in development work. I’d demand investing lot of money in building jails so that corrupt people can be accommodated in them.
Can we trust the Governement to ‘invest’ money in development work – absolutely no. That’s why, we need a reform in our election system. I support US style election system where we’ll make potential presidential candidates to debate and explain their policies and action items to us and then we choose between the two. Right now, we never know who’s going to be our PM even after elections are over. Is this kind of reform possible? Again – tell me why not? Give me logical reasons.
Why Isn’t Ramdev Baba Talking About Female Foeticide?
Yeah, I agree. Why isn’t Baba Ramdev talking about pathetic 3G speeds in India and why HDFC hasn’t registered my credit card in my net-banking account?
Where Is Prime Minister, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi?
Isn’t it funny, surprising and shocking that the ‘key’ people aren’t missing from the scene? Remember Rahul Gandhi sitting on ‘Darna’ against Mayavati sarkar? Where is he? Does he not care of poor people beaten by police? What about Sonia Gandhi? Bharat Ki Bahu isn’t even commenting on the issue after watching women being beaten brutally by police? And where is our “Highly Qualified” Man Mohan Singh? Just waiting for a command from remote control?
Will I get ‘jailed’ for talking against the governement?
…but all my friends are talking against Baba Ramdev & his political ambitions & tweeting about it.
Your yuppie, low-waist jeans wearing, spike-sporting, idols and inspirations are tweeting against baba Ramdev and telling how it is IMPOSSIBLE to bring black money back to India. Well, you are hopeless.
I know no one is perfect. We don’t have to be perfect to point out the wrongs. Baba Ramdev might be right or wrong, but his intentions and actions are legal and logical. It’s very encouraging that someone has taken a lead to take actions against corruption and government.
It takes guts.
