Ever since the organizers of the Once In A Lifetime 2.0 trip to Israel informed me that we’re going to get a chance to drive the electric cars developed by an Israeli company called “Better Place” – I was waiting for the opportunity. After visiting the Rogozin School in Tel Aviv, we headed to the Better Place. We were welcomed by the company representatives who escorted us to a tiny movie theater inside the campus. We saw a short movie about the pollution problems of the world and how Electric Cars can offer a solution. It was quite an interesting presentation by the CEO of Better Place (all video). Our licenses were picked up by the officials for registrations and in about 5 minutes, we were ready to zoom the cars!
We split into groups of 3 and headed to our cars. The cars are left-hand drive and it was my first time to drive a left hand drive cars. Unlike traditional cars, electric cars only have two paddles – accelerator and brake. One very good thing about Electric Cars is that they are totally silent. It was quite a smooth ride once I understood the controls. Trust me, the acceleration of these cars is super awesome! It was an amazing experience for me to drive a left-hand drive electric car!
