Before I begin telling you my experience of buying with “LetsBuy.com”, let me first show you my latest ultra modern Cisco E2000 Wireless-N Router, which I bought from LetsBuy. I did a thorough review of wireless routers online and finally decided to acquire Cisco E2000; which is quite an awesome router for under Rs. 6000. Thanks to LetsBuy for offering me discounts and getting the product priced at Rs. 5899 just for Rs. 5310; not at all a bad deal! Blue Dart delivered the product at my doorstep after displaying the status for 24 hours as “Late Arrival At Destination”. Check out my most advanced, wireless router…

To tell you the truth, I’m not at all excited at the moment. I should have been on my Cisco Router airing my ‘Once In A Lifetime’ post series. Thanks to super-innovative folks at eTree Marketing Pvt. Ltd. – the company behind LetsBuy portal who sent me stainless steel bowls worth a few hundred rupees instead of my Cisco E2000. My end moment decision to ditch Flipkart and buy from LB went seriously wrong. I just wish I had stuck with Flipkart folks – they may deliver late, but they deliver the right thing. I’m telling you, let’s never buy from LetsBuy. Know what? Their customer service is pathetic!

I’ve been trying to get in touch with LetsBuy Customer Care since last 3 hours with the following experience –

  1. Dial customer care number: 0124 4901234
  2. Phone does not connect
  3. Try again
  4. Try again
  5. Try again
  6. Try again
  7. Phone connects. Phone disconnects after 5 seconds.
  8. Try again
  9. Phone connects. Robotic lady speaks – Option #3 looks most useful.
  10. Long saxophone music followed by ‘Sorry. Your call is important to us ..blah blah, followed by same music.
  11. End of patience. 10 minutes break.
  12. Go to #1. Repeat.
While I continue to feel that all the ecommerce portals and customer care executives have joined hands against me; it’s bit of a relief that I’m not the only one. Sandeep Hegde and lot of his blog commenters seem to have faced similar problems. While he was lucky to have LetsBuy CEO resolve his query, I’m bit hopeless. I bet LetsBuy CEO does not know how it feels when an engineer does not receive his ordered electronic machine.
I’ve written email to customercare@letsbuy.com; but do not think they actually care. First, they have mentioned in bold letters that they’ve 24×7 customer service and they do not pick up the phone. My WebHost, on the other hand, replies to me in < 3 minutes! (I’m not kidding!). Let’s not compare American Customer Care and Indian Customer Care here; but you surely know what I mean.

eCommerce Gone Wrong: Too Much Money, Huh?

Surprisingly, LetsBuy.com has raised lot of money in recent times for top venture capitalists (who obviously won’t like this post). When you have lot of money – the focus shifts from useless things like ‘customer care’ and ‘timely delivery’ to more important things like ‘expansion’, ‘hiring talent’ or ‘finding a buyer’. I remember the days when I ordred from Flipkart and things would arrive in the next two days. Oh boy, I forgot to tell you that letsbuy’s packing sucks – it took me 5 minutes to open this tiny pack that arrived. Looks like they have invested all the VC money in buying plastic tapes to wrap around their products. Bah!

 

I just hope to get a refund or the product I ordered in least possible time; not matter how unlikely it seems. Anyone listening?

 

Update: The next day after publishing this post, I had a call from LetsBuy.com to address the concern. I had already sent them the photographs of the product that I received. I was informed that the new product has been shipped and it would arrive within next 2-3 days. In the mean time, the customer care sent me another mail (and also called) to arrange for the pickup of the product. To my surprise, I was asked to return them “CISCO E-2000 Router”. Meh! I said again and prepared for a long ‘conversation’ with the courier pickup guy; because I’d be handing them over the kitchen bowls I received and they expected the router!

 

Fortunately, the pickup guys didn’t argue and I handed over the kitchen bowls to them. I received the CISCO router the next day. But the courier guy refused to hand it over to me unless I paid Rs. 265 extra, under the “OCTROI” charges! I said, what the hell! He asked me to call the company and confirm. I thought I’d just pay Rs. 265 (I’m an Indian after all. Chalta Hai Yaar!). I asked for receipt and he refused saying he only had one copy that needed my sign! I’m not sure whether I bribed this guy. I convinced myself saying I’m buying peace of mind for Rs. 265/-.

Indian eCommerce Sucks, for sure!

    It is unfortunately that you too had a bad experience with letsbuy. This seems to be the common problem with most of the indian ecommerce sites. THe question still remains – who is going to bell the cat?

      I am trying to bell the cat……it a small step but your help can make it big…..I have created a FB page to counter the LB page……..

      I am also one of the harassed customer of letsbuy. Since my grievance were not been heard. I have made a FB page to propagate the issue and make others beware of this sham organisation.

      Don’t worry Rohan, I’m used to such questions. The router does very good in 2.4 GHz mode and I’m yet to test it on 5 GHz mode. I could get ‘1’ bar about 40 ft. away and 3 thick walls in between. Decent, right? 🙂

    In a Battlefield with LetsBuy.com (order # : LSB-565270)

    Day 1 (2/11/11)

    I placed an order of the much awaited title – Battlefield 3
    (PRE-RELEASE/LIMITED EDITION) for the Xbox 360.

    Day 2 (3/11/11)

    LetsBuy.com dispatches the order.

    Day 3 (4/11/11)

    I receive the order, and I was impressed with the prompt
    delivery. To my surprise on opening the package I realize that they shipped me
    a PS3 version instead of Xbox 360 version. My first reaction like anyone
    else’s, I call the customer care, after waiting for 9:32 seconds for anyone to
    answer I disconnect the call, try again twice and no response for the first 5
    mins I disconnected. I try again, and finally my call is answered by a
    representative, I told him the situation, he assures me with a callback within
    48 hours, I tell him to arrange for a callback in a specific time frame. I realize
    that the person forgot to give me a token number for my complaint so; I write a
    mail requesting the token number along with the problem (screenshots below).

    Day 4 (5/11/11)

    I finally receive a call, but outside the timeframe I
    specified. Since I could not take the call, I called back on the number and
    strangely no one answered. I get back to the customer care (fortunately, I didn’t
    have to explain the whole situation again, like other customers) I get a
    scripted reply neglecting my request to forward the call to the concerned
    authority and I’m instead told that, the senior official will tell me the same
    thing (WTH?), and as per his script tells me to wait again for 48 hours for a
    resolution.

    Day 5 (61111)

    I receive a mail from one Amit Thapa (screenshots below)
    which is not of much help and no callbacks probably due to a Sunday (but I was
    told that, I would receive a call).

    Day6 (71111)

    I again receive a call outside the timeframe, and try
    calling back once free from work, and no one answers the call. So finally I
    revert to the customer care and tell them to callback on the same day (as they don’t
    forward calls to other staff!), and while assured with a callback on the same
    day, I kept on waiting and decide to write a mail to the staff requesting them
    to continue the conversation via e-mail or provide me a number on which I may
    call them up (no replies to this mail till the present day!).

    Day 8 (91111)

    After waiting till 5 in the evening, I realize that I won’t
    be getting a call from the department. So I call the customer care and tell the
    person to arrange a callback, once again assuring to fulfill my requests, I
    disconnect and somehow, since I’m totally unconvinced with the reply, I dial
    the number, I got the call from and put it on redial, after some 10 redials, someone
    answers and puts the receiver down, again after 3 redials same thing happens. I
    finally got a call from a representative named “Suchitra”, she tells me that
    the correct order will be shipped on 9/11/11 and the dispatch details will be
    mailed on the same day. On enquiring about the wrong delivery, I get a reply
    which won’t even convince a kid, she says “Sir, at the time you placed the
    order, the product was out of stock”. Now, firstly if that really was the case,
    the website never should have let me place the order, secondly and more
    importantly that does not mean they can ship something else in lieu of my
    order.

    Day 9 (101111)

    I call the customer care at 11 in the morning, to enquire
    about the shipment details, as expected, they didn’t ship the product as yet,
    but since they have the whole day for the task its okay. So on a bit more
    conversation with this representative called “Jayati”, she says “Sir, we are
    shipping the new product, without taking back the old one”…I know, another (WTH?)………..still
    waiting for the correct order.

    THE AFTERMATH:

    1.      
    I HOPE THAT TEAM LETSBUY.COM YOU UNDERSTAND THAT
    THE PRODUCT I HAVE WITH ME IS OF NO USE TO ME, so it makes no difference if you
    take it back or not.

    2.      
    IT BARELY MAKES SENSE TO OWN THE CORRECT PRODUCT
    NOW, AS IT WAS A PRE-RELEASE/LIMITED EDITION…(thank you LetsBuy team for ruining
    all the enthusiasm for the title).

    3.      
    I have wasted a lot of money and an ample of
    time in trying to have the matter resolved; amazingly the amount spent is close
    to the discount I got. After such a terrible experience, I would advice to stop
    making purchases from LETSBUY.COM as it is a scam in disguise and a headache to
    confront.

    A WORD OF ADVICE FOR
    LETSBUY.COM:

    Try a different approach to handle
    customer grievances. I know you’ve been doing well in business but provided the
    way your customer care unit operates; I don’t think things will remain the
    same. I hope that you are reading this, Mr. Hitesh Dhingra, high time now,
    especially after discovering numerous negative reviews from other customers. I
    like your concept of LetsBuy.com, but I believe conceiving the project and
    living up to the commitment is really important.

    My experience with letsbuy.com 

    1. Order No. xxxxx / Complaint  noxxxxxx.

    Despite registering the complaint on 3rd November and your informing me on my further telephonic follow-up on 4th November, regret to note that no action hss been taken at your end. NO FURTHER FOLLOW-UP WILL BE MADE FROM MY SIDE IN THIS REGARD. I GIVE UP.

    2. Order No. xxxxx/ Complaint  no CCxxxxxxx.
    I introduced my friend Suresh to LSB and recommended for placing the order no. xxxx. You have not acted in this case too  despite his more than one e-mail reminders and frequent telephonic follow-ups. You also did not include the Diwali Gift along with the package which was received in damaged condition.

    Trying to contact you over telephone at 0124409234 ext. 3 is a mammoth task (unlike some of your competitors like 99 labels for example). Only calls to ext.1 are promptly picked up. The strike rate for ext.3 is roughly 1 in 10. Unlike Suresh, I consider myself lucky to get away unhurt except for the diwali gift. I have dropped my idea of ordering on you a Casio Watch and a Black & Decker Rice Cooker just because I have lost my confidence. In fact I have now lost my confidence in placing online orders for anything over more than a 1000 bucks. You guys can be relied on only stuff like a headphone or a pen drive….anything more than that can only make one’s BP soar.

    I agree with your comments, I will never buy from them again. Here my experience
     
    I have been shopping online for last 15 years (starting with AMAZON, BUY.COM etc. ) , but never encountered such a bad customer service. I have ordered a laptop on 27th Oct which was delivered on 2nd

    Nov , the product was defective and used as O/S was already configured , which is generally not the case with new laptops ,I immdiately informed letsbuy customer service about the problem, and on Nov 3rd they informed that someone will pick up defective product the next day,but it was not picked up, Now it 10 days (Nov 12th ) and I am following up on daily basis to pickup, but no improvement in status quo. The Customer return service person wont pickup her phone or reply your emails.. When you call customer service you have to wait 10 to 30 minute before some one picks up the call, they are generally polite , but no action, as I believe they have to pass the buck to Customer Return Service again. I have written to ceo@letsbuy.com as well, but never got even an automated reply. I don’t believe the CEO even cares about customers. I regret the decision of buying a product from Letsbuy and decide not to repeat the mistake. I think flipkart, anytimeretail, indiaplaza are much better estores.I feel now best option would be buying the product locally even it is bit costier, you can atleast demand better customer service. I am planning to move to consumer forum, if they don’t take appropriate actions soon. –Avneesh

    i was an idiot to buy from this stupid site…my order no 581911..the payment got credited on 6 nov and it is 15 today they still havent shipped..i gave them transaction id and account no for the payment but these b****es wont even reply to my mails…and that stupid helpline no of theirs never works..no one answers it…this is a scam site ppl never buy from letsbuy and ill do my best to post this everywhere and let ppl know…

    I ordered a watch.Unfortunately I paid in advance.
    I received my parcel without too much of delay.
    Problem was that it was torn and in bad condition.
    I did not accept and wrote back the details.
    They promptly assured that I will receive my money within 10 days.
    Then I received a call from courier ( Blue Dart) trying to bully and force me to accept the parcel.
    I had to show him his place.
    Then Letsbuy forgot all about it.
    I kept on sending reminder and finally after some threats they called and assured that money has been transferred and will mail me details.
    Mail came soon but there was no detail of money transfer . instead it told me that they will NOW look into it .
    Claim of having processed the claim disappeared.
    Assurance of refund disappeared.
    Soon they will fail to recognize me.
    Bunch of crooks  who will only not respond to decency .

But unfortunately you sent a damaged piece with Broken Glass and that peace is not using. I here by call up on you to sent a New piece with similar specifications or otherwise i will take appropriate legal action against You and you alone is liable for the cost and consequence thereoff.

    Hi,I ordered one Eurolex emergency recharge ligh EL 2824 model through this website. The delivered it after 5 days.  After receiving the item I put it for initial charging of 20 hrs as suggested in the guidelines and tested.  The LEDs are not glowing. I though there might be any charging issue and I kept it for charging more hrs.  But no use.  It is not working. I contacted Letsbuy.com customer care regarding this issue.  They told that they are not responsible and asked me to roam around USHA Shriram Enterprises, Delhi who manufactured that Light.They are trapping everyone with attractive website and selling not working Items.  Even they are not replacing them with one more Good conditioned Item.I would like to suggest everyone not to purchase or order any Item through their Website.  This is not a genuine business.Thanks,Surya

    never buy any product from Letsbuy.com…they delivery sucks….first of all they give you partial shipment….and their customer service have no clue whats going on and they have one god damned manager who is forever busy…probably taking other frustrated customer’s calls…and they just dont have answers to ur queries…..just a scripted answer….”wait for 24-48 hours”….they tell this to u practically everyday that u call them……i fail to understand, ’24-48 hrs’ from which day?????

    After reading this i remember my first order with flipkart. I had found a book published by CIMA for 720 Rs, whereas the CIMA website told me tht it wil cost me some 4000-5000 in INR.

    So promptly called flipkart and asked them whether they are selling pirated books… the guy on the other side of the line was damn cool and explained tht they are selling the Indian edition and a fact which CIMA website never tells. I ordered with flipkart and got it within 2-3 days.

    The thing that impresses me about flipkart is the packing and the prompt deliveries.

    Thank god that i did not order from letsbuy any item.

    @BG If they’re giving the router at a lower price than ebay, buy from them and pay using cash on delivery. Pay them after they deliver the product, so that your money stays safe with you. I plan to do the same for an earphone which they’re offering at 20% less compared to other sites.

      Yep. That’s the first thing I consider while trying out a new eCommerce website. But Let’s Buy is trusted by Samsung for their product launches.

      Secondly, the product should arrive within time. If you look at previous comments from LetsBuy customers, they say that the products were not delivered during the promised time.

      …and when things go wrong, the customer care isn’t available.

      I’d rather go with Flipkart. Ordred Galaxy Note from them and it was delivered the next day!

    Hi All,

    Thank God I bumped into this forum when I googled “how is letsbuy service?”

    I was planning to buy the Dell ST2220L monitor from LetsBuy, but now I definitely won’t!!

    Flipkart does not sell monitors as of now. I thought I might as well call them and inquire. I was expecting some wait time as I called at 7:30pm. Surprise surprise, wait time was 0 sec!!! My call was promptly answered by an enthusiastic lad who knew what he was talking about, said Flipkart is expanding their product range and monitors should be available in about 2 months. I might just wait as the local Dell store does not sell monitors, and the official Dell site wants Rs.1000/- more for the same thing!! (Letsbuy offers it for Rs. 8300/- hmm… )

    Flipkart has not let me down in the past, so I am not going anywhere else, at least for now….

    Never ever Purchase the Product from letsbuy.Even they give it free to you.
    I have purchase sony ericssion neo v from this site.They give I-ball pendrive and Enter blutooth headset free with the product.
    Neo audio jack not working properly,Headset not take the charge and not even connect to any system and they not give the pendrive.
    when i mail them they not even take response.
    So,If you really want to purchase any thing go with filpkart.com never go with letsbuy….n change it name to lets not buy.
    otherwise its all ur money …

    I have placed the order for the Quick Heal Total Security 2012 (1 User) on the 12th of Dec 2011 from their website & i have paid all the money while placing the order.

    Also there is no update on the shipment they provide until i ask them about the shipment.

    And I received the shipment on 21st Dec 11, 9 days after I place the order (On website they mention shipment will be delivered in 4-7 days). But the version i received is the 2011.
    The box cover is of Quick Heal 2012. But the inside the Box, CD & the usage booklet is of Quick Heal 2011.

    When I call them, they asked me send the snaps of the shipments delivered, without that they will not be providing the replace product. I send them pictures on the same day, but still I didnot receive any response for 3 days. So i called them again, they were saying the same thing that you need to send the snaps of shipment even though i send it earlier. they were not even knowing whether mail was receive or not. Neither they bother to check whether mail is received or not untill i call them & speak them in hard language. after doing all this they arrange the pickup for the wrong shipment in stead of providing the correct shipment first.
    When they arrange the pickup that time they told that once Pickup is done they will ship the shipment from the mumbai warehouse to pune & you will be received the shipment within 2 days.
    But I received the shipment after 5 days, after pickup for wrong shipment is done.

    After doing all these headache I received the shipment, that took 4 weeks from when I place the order.

    I am buying the products online from last 2-3 yrs. and comparing to the other companies providing the online shopping, Letsbuy is the THIRD CLASS online store. Their service, customer service, everything is the THIRD CLASS.There is not at all co-ordination between their customer representative.

    There is no coordination between their customer representative & between their different depart ment.
    They are behaving like that, they have no need of business, only we have the need & they are providing the product in charity us. Stay away from this, I f you have to pay little more at other plcae, it is worth to pay it rather to buy from LetsBuy.

    I’m facing a different problem here.. I have bought a HP DVDs 6121TX from lets buy on Friday 28/1/12.. Cash on delivery mode and I was asked to pay 10% of the product price since the laptop value is 54000 INR so I made the payment of 5400 rs with my debit card and balance 48600 rs I will have to pay as cod.. they shipped it on the same day , today morning a man with a parcel from aramex asking me 54000 rs in cash.. he has a paper which shows the same amount as 54K.. then he took it and went away.. Called cc and explained every thing and he is adding 24~48 hrs.. Its not fair .. is it ?? lets see what happens next .. I will update in here.. 812678 is my order number..

Their service, customer service, everything is the THIRD CLASS.There is not at all co-ordination between their customer representative.

    There is no coordination between their customer representative & between their different depart ment.
    They are behaving like that, they have no need of business, only we have the need & they are providing the product in charity us. Stay away from this, I f you have to pay little more at other plcae, it is worth to pay it rather to buy from LetsBuy

    Let me join too in the discussion.
    Letsbuy tagline in a product page “LETSBUY ONLY SELLS GENUINE AND NEW PRODUCTS” haha isn’t funny? VERY FUNNY & A COMPLETE FRAUD.

    Let me tell you my experience. I ordered a CM STORM sentinel ZERO gaming mouse worth 3,400. Even the price they quote was high. My badluck Flipkart had no stock of this that day.

    I gone with letsbuy and ordered the mouse, I was quite excited to see the new mouse I haven’t used before. The packet arrived from bluedart. I opened the carton :-
    The first impression was:-
    1- The showcase box full of dirt.
    2- Blister packaging was like used with lots of scratches.
    3- The mouse pads at the bottom were totally scratched as the Mr CEO of Letsbuy had been using the mouse and then packed and sent to the customer and new one kept for himself..shiiit!!
    4- The bottom of the mouse seems it was an year old, the top has a dot size scratch.

    I called the customer care and the discussion gone hot. What the hell they people selling to us customer.

    I’ve heard a recent news that Flipkart will might takeover and buying letsbuy. But why should are they going to buy such a cheapo brand which don’t have a bit of reputation in the eCommerce market in India.

    If the acquisition won’t happen PLEASE don’t buy from letsbuy the GHATIYA kind of company. They are selling old and used product that’s the only reason they have to write explicitly on their page “WE ONLY SELL NEW PRODUCT” , If you are selling new product what’s the need to write. WE CUSTOMER MAKES THE COMPANY A BRAND NOT YOU SUCKERS!!

    To hell with your company .. won’t buy anything from LETSNOTBUY.COM.

      HAHA because they don’t even know how to run an online shopping business. Even eBay small sellers are more promising and disciplinary than the fraudulent letsbuy guys.

    I placed one order (My First) No. LSB-809864, on dated
    26.01.2012 for 2 nos. Ajanta OLC-20 Digital Wall Clock.

    After few days, I called up and also wrote to them inquiring
    status of my order, I was assured that the item will be dispatched soon.

    On 03.02.2012 I got a mail from them that the item has been
    dispatched through Blue Dart with AWB No.43835231565..

    When I tried to track the same in blue Dart’s site, the no.
    provided found to be a fake one.

    I again wrote to them, and also called them. I was replied
    on 09.02.2012 that they too are puzzled and they are escalating my complaint to
    their logistics department. The complaint no. given to me was CC120244596.

    Again they confirmed that they have dispatched the item. The
    AWB nos. 43841599093 & 43841597144 on dated 13.02.2012.  of Blue Dart. Again these nos. found to be
    fake. I again called up and wrote emails, to which they assured to look into
    the matter.

    For the third time they said the item has been dispatched
    through Blue Dart with AWB nos. 43841617374 & 43841617680 on dated
    17.02.2012. When I checked them out I was shocked to find that the shipment was
    addressed to Delhi and already received by someone named Vishal. I stay in
    Orissa, and how come the items were shipped & received inside Delhi. I again
    called up Customer care. They informed that the complain registered earlier has
    been closed. When I requested to talk with their seniors, after a long wait the
    call was dropped from their side.

    I have made numerous calls and written dozens of
    emails. However, I am not getting any help and the product ordered not received
    todate

    Totally agree!
    I bought an HP wireless printer from them on December 25, 2011. The printer had a warranty of only under 3 months on it when I registered. I asked letsbuy.com for a bill with the serial number of the printer and the date of purchase so I could take it up with HP
    Till this date, I am being tossed around between letsbuy.com and HP
    Both companies don’t understand the importance of ‘Customer service’ leave apart ‘ customer delight’

    I agree with the comment. I have been shopping with Amazon, Ebay and Flipkart and never had such a bad experience. They take the orders without even knowing the stocks available with them and then fail to deliver the product in time. The worst part is that when you ask them to cancel the order (due to delivery problem), they simply say that money will be refunded after 21 days. This is bullshit and never acceptable from an e-commerce site.

    I made a mistake visiting LetsBuy site and and will not do this mistake again
