The Great ‘Jet Diskonnect’ – Never Fly Jet Konnect!

I should have been in the Jet Konnect flight right now. But here I am, in front of my computer, typing this blog post. The fault is entirely mine that I arrived at the airport 10 minutes late and the check-in counter closes 45 minutes prior to the flight time. Of course, rules are rules and I won’t blame Jet for sticking to the rules. They’ve a rival, IndiGo that knows how to treat the customers and they do it exceptionally well. I promise not to fly Jet Airways anytime unless I’m forced to.

So, the story goes: I arrived 10 minutes late at the Airport (for XYZ reasons), and I had no baggage. I requested the officials to just let me in as it’d only take 30 seconds to print out my boarding pass. But the official says ‘Sorry’. He’s doing his job and I’m no one to stop him from doing it. Then I show him what the eTicket says –

“Check-in counters for flights within India* will now close 45 minutes prior to flight departure and the boarding gate(s) closes 25 minutes prior to departure…”

 *Applicable only for flights from Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Delhi. 

… I wasn’t departing from any of the cities mentioned in the list! So? He sais it’s all operated from Mumbai and he can’t do anything. I missed an important event I was planning to attend since last so many days. Ticket money wasted.But rules are ‘RULES’ and they apply ONLY to the customers, not to the airlines!

The only question I want to ask –

If I’m 10 minutes late (for whatever reasons), you don’t let me in. But when your flight is late; you don’t refund me! Why this Kolaveri Di?

    I’m not sure about how the current situation is handled in india, but in US If there is any issue or delay from the flyer side they use to give some kind of points/merits to the customers which can reimbursed when they fly again with the same carrier…

      The Indigo guys once had to land the plane in Jaipur because of the fog at Delhi airport. They compensated for it by offering extra meals. 

      But my point is; what about the 5-10 minute regular delays by the airlines that alter our schedules? They tell us it was bad weather or busy airport; but won’t take our ‘stuck in traffic’ reasoning.
