Gravity (2013) Movie Review – It’s ‘One Time Watch’

Finally, I went to INOX (no IMAX in city, yet) to watch the movie that’s getting a lot of positive reviews from critics. The local INOX’s got a Gravity 3D show and I thought I’d watch that movie before upcoming Dhoom 3; which IMHO is a must watch. I thought Gravity would be a different type of a Hollywood movie; unfortunately it turned out to be just another Hollywood movie in which the protagonists get into an impossible to survive situation and then somehow manage to overcome all odds. Have you seen a pattern in all the Hollywood movies? The world or the protagonists is/are in danger and they go through various situations that are intended to make you think that the survival is impossible. Then heroically the protagonists save themselves (and world as well). The movie ends.

Throughout the movie, I kept on waiting for a twist or a turn that’d make me want to be excited about the climax but none came. Surprisingly, movies like Special 26 & The Wednesday did a much better job in keeping me glued to my seat desperately waiting for the next scene and the climax; but Gravity didn’t.

Everything in the movie just spins – the Earth (by default), the space station, the actors, the space debris. 30 minutes into the movie and I started getting a feeling that the brain inside my skull is spinning as well.

I give 100/100 to the special effects team though. You did a fantastically awesome job. But everything else wasn’t worth the money.

Did you watch Gravity? Tell me how was it?

I think I loved the movie!

Apt story line (without going into too much space jargon, not pretending to be something out of the world (recent Thor and the Tron Legacy)).
