So, You’re Not Burning Crackers This Diwali?

I see a great trend being followed everywhere and it’s called ‘Green Diwali’. The idea is not to burn crackers because it causes two types of pollution – air pollution and sound pollution. People who aren’t burning crackers feel they care ‘more’ for environment than others (who burn crackers) and I think that’s stupid. So you really care for the environment? How about taking a public transport or car-pooling instead of driving your car alone to the office? How about turning off your your two-wheeler at a traffic signal if you’re going to wait for more than 30 seconds? How about not-honking like no one’s listening? Why Is There So Much Air Pollution In India & Especially On Indian Roads?

Have you ever wondered why do we have so much air pollution in India? Why are we left with no choice but to breath air contaminated with all harmful & toxic stuff? Let’s not talk about the pollution contributed by the industries. Rather, we’ll talk about it later once I’ve made my point. We can all talk about the pollution the roads – caused by all our vehicles. The first thing that comes to my mind is that because we’ve so huge population and consequently, we’ve so many vehicles on roads that we can’t avoid pollution. But I’ve a different take on this issue. I think number of vehicles isn’t the ‘big’ issue. The real issue is the technology that’s being used in vehicles & engines.
