Building a business or just some side-income?

In recent times, I’ve come across couple of software engineers who are aspiring entrepreneurs. I believe the idea of starting one’s own business comes naturally to all the techies – once they experience incompetent bosses, low income/work ratio, zilch job satisfaction & motivation to work @ office, mundane work et al. Majority of them spend their lifetime looking for a GREAT idea that will change the world. The ones I’ve met are actually looking for some side-income believing that they’re building a business. I’m not an authority on entrepreneurship. But if you are really-really-really wanting to build a business, you need to have focus – on what you should be doing. Here’s another comment upgraded to a post. Superblog reader ‘kaka’ posted following comment on my post “Why Should I Stay In India?” – US is alaways a better place to be.we indians a too patriotic about our country, which is not helping us in any manner and we are making ourselves narrow minded. At the end money is what matters, if you can earn more money in india then go ahead, if in us then go ahead. Show us the money, stupid!

Everyone who knows that I am behind CrazyEngieners, asks me this one question –   “How much do you earn from the site?”   When I say “nothing”, I get strange looks. They just cannot understand why this guy puts so much of efforts in running a website that doesn’t earn him a dime. A person (manager) whom I used to report to in my previous company, even spread the word that Big K is going to sell his website for millions and he won’t give a buck to his team mates.   I see that everyone is after those ‘quick bucks’. If you are not making money, there is certainly something wrong with you – is what most of us think. So, shall we always act to make money?   Money is important. Money can make the things happen. However, it is not my focus. I’m focused on creating value. I am doing something that I love to do....
